THOUGHT AND PROCESS
Throughout the design process, a strong emphasis has been placed on streetscape character and placemaking. This has lead to a number of proposed different character areas.
The Lookout
Positioned alongside the Maritime Academy aiming to reflect the hierarchy and regimented nature of naval buildings found throughout Medway and the historic dockyard.
The Forest
Overlooking the wider Hog Marsh Valley. It is the outward looking edge of the development and is visible from the wider area.
The Quarry
Located on the former quarry alongside the existing residents on Parsonage Lane.
The Farm
Influenced by the adjacent historic Tythe Barn Manor Barn.
The proposed character areas are complimented by an entirely bespoke set of house types which have been developed alongside the extensive work on local history in order to produce a unique and bespoke scheme for the site.
Walls clad with black weatherboarding
Cedar Shingles
Prominent gable forms are a key feature of the development and this character area
Walls in red brick
Brick details add texture and interest
Walls are principally brick in variety of red shades, albeit with variety in texture and finish
Robust boundary treatments with railings and dwarf walls
